Healthy Eating

There is increasing evidence to support the role of nutrition in maintaining health and in the restoration of health. Chiropractors have long been proponents of a healthy lifestyle, diet, exercise, and a healthy mental attitude as being necessary components to maintaining health.
The doctors at PORZIO-HAWLEY Chiropractic and Nutrition Center are trained in nutrition and how diet affects your
health and well-being. To your chiropractor nutrition comprises more
than simply eating three meals a day. The chiropractic profession views
nutrition as the materials needed to maintain your health, and includes
the vitamins, mineral, and tissue building quality of what you eat.
Some foods should be avoided, while others consumed more frequently.
You should consult your chiropractor directly for your specific
nutrient requirements, but there is a general list to consider.
You should avoid:
- White refined sugar and white refined flour
- “Junk Foods” candy and empty calorie snacks
- Caffeine, found in coffee and cola drinks
- Salt and foods high in salt content
- Artificially flavored products with many added preservatives
- Foods high in saturated fat, and fried foods including many "fast foods"
- Convenience type food-that are often low in nutritional value
You should increase your intake of:
- Whole grain breads and cereal
Remember, your specific condition may require special dietary requirements, consult Dr. Nicole at PORZIO-HAWLEY Chiropractic and Wellness!
